Title: Sustainability and Environment Specialist
Reports to: Sustainability and Environment Director
Department: Regulatory Management

Essential Functions

The essential functions of this position are: support corporate goals in relation to communicating sustainability metrics, communicate product health and environmental attributes to downstream users, and maintain an environmentally sound production environment. This position interfaces with all levels in corporate and production operations as well as direct customers and end users of products. This position acts as a representative in dealing with environmental regulatory matters affecting the company.

This position inhabits a rapidly evolving field driven by internal and external stakeholders. Flexibility, subtlety and the ability to work autonomously on assigned tasks are critical attributes.

Sustainability Communications and Support

This position will be responsible for maintaining communications and reporting for a variety of chemical and construction product sustainability related programs. Functions include, but are not limited to:
• Coordinate and maintain third-party product testing and certifications.
• Coordinate listings of product testing and attributes on internal and external databases.
• Maintain internal and external documents related to product attributes.
• Author technical support documents related to product attributes.
• Maintain a working knowledge of related USGBC LEED and green building credit and benchmark criteria.
• Support activities related to municipal, state and federal Environmentally Preferred Procurement (EPP) programs.
• Respond to internal and downstream requests for information on product environmental attributes.
• Engage in discussions with upstream suppliers regarding raw material attributes and chemical contents.
• Assist in representation in sustainability and product attribute consensus standards committees.
• Assist in representation in relevant industry and NGO stakeholder committees.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

Product Stewardship

• Assist in authoring and maintaining product Safety Data Sheets and relevant label information.
• Implement and maintain policies and procedures related to corporate product stewardship programs such as CSPA’s Product Care and ACA’s Coatings Care.
• Facilitate extended producer responsibility programs such as ACA’s PaintCare.
• Monitor and maintain compliance with state level product and product packaging regulatory programs.
• Monitor and maintain compliance with state and municipal product registration systems.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

Environmental Regulatory Compliance

• Analyze regulations and codes to determine impact on facility operations and formulate compliance strategies.
• Assure that facility environmental reporting and permitting requirements are fulfilled.
• Maintain contact with legal counsel, regulatory agencies and consultants as needed to maintain compliance.
• Report on pending regulatory obligations and activities.
• Assure compliance with document retention policies as needed to maintain compliance and minimize liability risks.
• Represent the company on the Local Emergency Planning Committee.
• This position is designated as a backup Emergency Response Coordinator as defined under RCRA and CERCLA regulations.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

Educational – Certification Requirements

Education: This position requires a B.S. or its equivalent from an accredited university in the environmental sciences, biological sciences, environmental engineering, or chemical engineering fields. Course of study must include fundamentals of physical, organic and environmental chemistry. General knowledge of environmental regulatory systems and environmental control technology is preferred. This position must receive continuing education regarding the current state of environmental regulations and hazardous materials management as needed to perform essential functions. This position is required to obtain and maintain a LEED Green Associate credential.

Experience: Two years of in a related field is preferred.

Specific skills include:

• Shall demonstrate superior written and verbal communication skills.
• Shall demonstrate project management ability.
• Shall possess basic computer skills.

Supervisory Responsibilities
• None assigned.

Knowledge and Skills
• Excellent interpersonal, analytical, written and oral communication skills.
• Understand and follow business and related social media etiquette.
• Ability to manage multiple projects.
• Ability to effectively interact with all organizational levels and external stakeholders and customers.
• Ability to work in a dynamic environment that requires a high degree of multi-tasking with minimal supervision.
• Effective use of computing devices and systems is required.

Extent of Public Contact
• Moderate to high.
• Will interact with green building practitioners, trade associations and affiliated committees, NGOs and regulatory entities.

Physical Demands

• This position requires travel.
• Must be able to travel via air, automobile and mass transit.
• Position requires sitting, standing, walking, and the ability to occasionally lift up to 75 lbs.
• Must be physically able to wear a NIOSH approved respirator.

Working Conditions and Environment

• Position will be located in PROSOCO’s Lawrence, Kansas offices.
• Position requires travel.
• Position will be provided with a workspace and computer.
• Position will be provided with a cellular phone or will utilize a personal device subject to corporate privacy and confidentiality requirements.
• Position requires occasional periods in PROSOCO’s production facility.

Mental Activities and Requirements
• Must be able to function under stress and under a wide variety of interpersonal relationships.
• Must show initiative and independent judgment.

Preference will be given to candidates with excellent customer relations skills, solid experience in management and organization, technical knowledge, database familiarity and good communication abilities. Familiarity with third-party certification programs is a plus. The candidate should have the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, capacity to work in a team setting, and a basic understanding of scientific issues and sustainability.

The position is full-time and located in Washington, DC close to the Blue, Orange and Red Metro lines. Salary is commensurate with qualifications.

Finance Associate

The successful Finance Associate will become involved in projects covering the entire spectrum of ERCI’s activities. Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The Finance Associate will perform the following and other duties as assigned:

Services for Existing Clients
• Provide financial analysis and in-depth analysis of specific liabilities and portfolios.
• Research technical issues and develop remediation strategies.

• Participate in problem structuring, including work planning, issues analysis, process planning, etc.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have the following minimum qualifications:
• A bachelor’s degree from a major university in a field requiring complex analytical and quantitative methods and skills such as environmental engineering, environmental science, environmental economics, engineering, finance, economics, mathematics, statistics, or business administration
• 4+ years of consulting, financial project management, and/or sales experience in one or more of the following industries: investment banking, environmental and/or management consulting, environmental accounting, oil and gas, chemical, utilities, heavy manufacturing, or transportation
• Demonstrated project management skills, including client, contractor, and budget management experience
• Familiarity with environmental regulations and their effect on financial risks for industry
• Demonstrated leadership, strategic thinking, and organizational skills
• Willingness and ability to manage and carry out all aspects of a project with minimal support
• History of delivering on commitments, motivation to achieve excellent results with minimal guidance, and ability to establish goals/priorities
• Extensive experience with development of numerical models

Compensation and Location

The Communications Internship

• Help develop communications calendars and other organizational "tools" to help the PSI communications team streamline and keep track of its many activities.

Qualifications
• Exceptional writing skills: writing must be clear, concise, and impactful; candidate must have ability to adapt one's "voice" to various audiences and to know when to adapt that voice
• Exceptional spelling and grammar skills
• Ability to stay focused and deliver high quality results in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, constantly changing work atmosphere
• Degree in communications/MarComm/public relations/journalism
• A demonstrated understanding of the difference between journalistic/public relations writing and academic/scientific/business writing.
• Familiarity with AP Stylebook Guidelines (strongly preferred)
• Self-motivated, "go-getter" personality who doesn't shut down and leave at exactly 5 p.m. every day.
• Strong willingness to do tasks that may seem trivial or menial but that are, in fact, crucial to the success of various projects.
• Self-starter who shares ideas and actively tries to identify solutions to problems rather than just identifying the problems or waiting for someone else to provide the solutions
• Strong time management and organizational skills (in terms of project management)
• Interest in and basic understanding of the "green" marketplace and the product-specific environmental issues that businesses and governments are facing.

Ideal candidates will have academic or professional experience or background and knowledge related to environmental science, environmental policy, environmental advocacy, and/or public health issues. Ideal candidates may have an undergraduate or graduate degree in public policy, political science, natural science, environmental science, law, business administration, economics, or a related field. Alternatively, interns may be a degree candidate in one of these areas. Our intern’s thoughts and ideas will be considered seriously as a contribution to improving the organization as a whole, as well as forwarding its mission.

Primary Responsibilities: • Source and manage relationships with various outside vendors (instructors, venues, travel agents, etc.) • Negotiate rates and secure contracts for venues, services and other operational resources • Receive inbound calls from customers, route calls to appropriate party, resolve customer issues as- necessary

Preferred Skills: • Event planning experience • Experience with arranging/booking travel • Ability to negotiate • Experience with contracts • Proficiency in CRM platforms (ex: Salesforce)

We are seeking a talented, motivated and passionate National Sales Manager to join the PE INTERNATIONAL team of sustainability professionals to spearhead Sales in the Building and Construction industry sectors.

Job Objective
The National Sales Manager, Building and Construction Sector will be responsible for coordinating the sales efforts targeting the industry. This individual will identify the needs of the building and construction industry and work with all facets of PE INTERNATIONAL resources to develop and deliver sustainability solutions that meet the needs of the marketplace. This position will leverage the Business Drivers in the B&C sector, such as USGBC LEED, International Green Construction Code and various municipal green codes that are encouraging material manufacturers to improve the sustainability of products and services.

What we need you to do:

• Initiate, generate, and close sales opportunities against company revenue quotas.
• Develop, maintain, and execute a business development plan for the target industry sector. This will involve working in conjunction with the PE INTERNATIONAL team in North America and the PE team located throughout the world, to develop an industry specific plan and marketing campaign.
• Identify and understand client and sector product and services needs and evolve sales strategies and business planning to meet those needs.
• Develop and execute on sector-specific marketing campaigns, developed in conjunction with PE INTERNATIONAL Director of Sales and Marketing.
• Provide Product Managers with prospect and customer feedback on PE INTERNATIONAL products and services to support their ongoing growth and development to meet and exceed market requirements.
• Keep the PE INTERNATIONAL Team up-to-date on relevant issues in the Building and Construction industry and serve as an industry-specific resource as needed.
• Participate in appropriate leading industry initiatives to progress the sustainability awareness for our clients.
• Work as senior member of project teams, working with clients and project teams to provide services that delight the customer.

What we require:
• Strong sector expertise and senior level contact base within Building and Construction and Natural Resources Industries
• 5+ years sales experience
• Extensive experience in sales to large corporate clients with knowledge of solution software sales and providing technical consulting services.
• Knowledge of Sustainability issues and how they influence and impact corporate business models.
• Working knowledge of the business practices, decision making drivers, and sustainability issues within the Building and Construction industries. The selected candidate must be able to understand and articulate how PE INTERNATIONAL services will benefit clients within the target market.
• Familiarity with ISO 14000 series of Standards is required.
• Successful achievement of sales quotas, consultative enterprise/solution or technical sales.
• Ability to manage a pipeline with multiple accounts and partners.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Proven success prospecting, building a pipeline, moving opportunities through the sales cycle, proposing, presenting and discussing solutions with C-level and other decision-makers.
• Ability to craft a solution with appropriate products and services that meets business goals based on client discussions.
• Proficient with MS Office tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
• Knowledge of CRM tools (e.g. salesforce.com) preferred
