We have an immediate opening in our Normal, IL office for a HVAC Controls Specialist. Primary function of qualified candidates will involve supporting the building commissioning group. Primary duties will include:
• Developing functional performance testing procedures for commercial facilities in design, as developed by others;
• Coordination of testing control sequences for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems;
• Verifying construction of MEP systems through field observation;
• Conducting meetings with construction personnel;
• Supporting the commissioning process through developing documentation during design and construction
• Work will involve collaboration with design and commissioning engineers along with coordination among contractors and multiple project teams.

Specific Requirements include:
• Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred; however a 2 yr technical degree with experience in directly applicable role will also be considered.
• At least 5 years of solid experience in design and installation of building DDC systems, HVAC controls, and controls infrastructure in a commercial application.
• Must be willing to travel up to 20% of the time.

Desired Qualifications:
• LEED AP
• Building Commissioning experience
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

We have an immediate opening in our Peoria, IL office for a Structural Engineer. Qualified candidates will work with the Building Structural Engineering team in the structural design, detailing, and construction administration of building projects. This position is responsible for performing design calculations, developing construction documents, performing construction administration tasks, coordinating with the project team, mentoring engineering interns and performing other tasks as assigned by the structural manager.

Specific Requirements include:
• B.S. in Civil or Architectural Engineering
• Licensed Structural Engineer in the state of IL
• 7-10 years of structural engineering experience
• Experience in structural design and construction administration of steel, concrete, masonry, and wood buildings
• Experience with seismic design
• Experience with progressive collapse and blast resistance design, preferred
• Experience with structural inspections and condition assessments, preferred
• Experience leading projects, preferred
• Excellent communication skills, required
• Experience with Revit and AutoCAD, preferred
• Experience with structural design software (RAM), preferred

• Perform energy audits and energy modeling using HAP, EnergyPlus and/or eQuest.
• Collect data for Energy Star ratings
• Perform ASHRAE Level I & II Surveys
• Perform site assessment Surveys
• Design, submittal, and O& M reviews
• Field observations & functional testing
• Provide Commissioning Team Support
• Communicate effectively with owners, design teams, contractors, and the project team
• Project management
• Marketing and client development

Minimum Qualifications include:
• BS in Architectural or Electrical Engineering
• Licensed Professional Engineer, preferred
• 5-7 years facilities design or building commissioning experience
• Energy Modeling software experience, preferred
• LEED® Green Associate or Accredited Professional, preferred
• Strong verbal and written skills
• Strong skill-set with Microsoft® Office, particularly Excel
• Ability to travel up to 30% annually

Engineering Manager – Satellite Office Leader
Colorado Springs, CO

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced engineering manager to work with a highly successful organization. The person hired in this role will play a dual role of an Engineering Manager and Satellite Office Leader. In this role you will manage staff and resources and support multiple commissioning, retro-commissioning, energy assessment/auditing, and design projects in the Colorado Springs, CO area and across the nation for a wide variety of clients and facility types.

Engineering Management Responsibilities include:
• Staff and resource management
• Technical quality control
• Marketing and proposal development
• Establishing and maintaining budgets
• Working within our project accounting system
• Management and execution of projects from inception through completion
• Overnight travel required to support projects

Office leadership duties will include:
• Acting as satellite office leader
• Staff development and meetings
• Office budget management
• Collaborating with other discipline teams in the organization as required
• Coordinating multiple disciplines on local or national projects
• Participation in local events and attendance of periodic evening meetings
• Overnight travel to other Farnsworth Group office locations

Minimum Specific Requirements include:
• BS in Architectural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
• 10 -15 years of progressive experience in engineering management
• Proven leadership skills with minimum of 5 years of engineering staff leadership experience
• Previous commissioning experience as defined by ASHRAE Guideline 0
• Previous LEED® and/or sustainable design project experience
• Previous MEP design experience
• Registered PE in the State of CO or able to obtain CO licensure
• Experience with Federal projects considered a plus
