Primary Responsibilities:

-Identify promising technologies and system strategies to reduce energy use while preserving or enhancing indoor environments in commercial/institutional, industrial or residential facilities.

-Secure funding to conduct applied research and/or demonstration projects that will quantify real world energy savings and costs, identify factors affecting savings and costs, and assess non-energy performance attributes.

Software Engineer II

This is a mid-level position responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of software programs. The Software Engineer II works under moderate supervision to understand the requirements of the system under development and apply basic software processes to complete tasks. This individual is expected to develop a mid-level understanding of the business domain at Ecova.

Role Description

• Work with Operations users to develop requirements specifications on projects with low complexity and scope.
• Design, code, and unit test software programs.
• Support the quality assurance group during functional and regression testing of software programs.
• Develop functional design specifications for software applications of low to moderate complexity.
• Accept accountability for meeting project milestones and other goals.
• Keep abreast of new technology and develop new technical skills.
• Demonstrates knowledge of the principle strategies and processes associated with the Ecova business domain.

Role Competencies

• BA/BS in Computer Science or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must have a basic understanding of Visual SourceSafe or other source code control tool.
• Must have a basic understanding of defect tracking systems and the processes associated with them.
• Must have a basic understanding of the concepts associated with object oriented design (OOD)
• Must have knowledge of MVC (STRUTS, SPRING, ASP .NET MVC) and/or ORM (Hibernate, LLDBL Gen) frameworks.
• Two to++ five years experience using Visual Basic .NET, C#, JAVA/J2SE or other object oriented langua+ge.
• Two to five years experience using Visual Studio, Eclipse, or other software development environment.
• Two to five years experience using Oracle 9i, 10g, 11g or SQL Server 2000/2005/2008 relational database management systems, stored procedures, and queries.
• Must have experience using 3rd party controls and tools.
• Must have some experienced in N-tiered development (ASP.NET/J2EE).
• Must be experienced in technologies like HTML, XML, JSP, ASP, JavaScript, PHP, AJAX, BEA WebLogic, JBoss, IIS, or .NET framework.
• Must be proficient in the use of the MS Office tool set.
• Good verbal and written communication skills, client relation skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Position Summary:
The Senior Web Application Developer will provide senior development capability on an agile team that is dedicated to building portal applications for a diverse set of user roles. The successful candidate must be a capable engineer with a track record of working on large .NET Web applications.

- Join an agile team of 5-6 experienced software developers and test engineers.
- Work closely with the product owner to provide realistic estimates and drive excellence in technical work.
- Design and develop core, reusable components.
- Produce results and planned deliverables using the agile scrum method with short delivery timeframes.
- Effectively collaborate with team members as well as internal and external clients.
- Use modern software development techniques including automated code analysis, implementation of coding guidelines, while contributing to a consistently high level of unit test coverage.
- Work with some of the latest technologies including: Visual Studio 2012, .NET 4.5, the Kentico portal development framework, REST APIs, HTML5/CSS3 and Responsive Design.

Qualifications:
- 5-7 years professional experience designing and developing enterprise .NET Web applications.
- Strong analytical, problem identification and reporting skills.
- Proven track record of innovative technical contribution to software product delivery.
- Software company experience is highly desirable.
- Broad expertise in languages, Web application frameworks and overall software architecture.
- Experience with Agile software development methodologies, continuous integration, and test-driven development are very desirable.
- BA/BS in Computer Science/Engineering or other related degrees.

Salary Range: Commensurate with experience
