COMPANY OVERVIEW
The Biomimicry Group, Inc. comprises three interrelated entities: the Biomimicry Guild (a consultancy for bio-inspired design started in 1998), The Biomimicry Institute (a not-for-profit education entity founded in 2005), and a newly launched social enterprise. The Biomimicry Group manages the extended enterprise's operations and oversees its on-going and new ventures.
The Biomimicry Group, Inc. is working at the forefront of sustainable design thinking. We are a small but growing company with a culture of interdisciplinary innovation. Our social enterprise mission combines the strengths of commercial and non-profit strategies to catalyze the transformative power of biomimicry to re-imagine how human civilization must evolve in the 21st century. Our values focus on an inspiring, diverse, and creative working environment that allows employees to flourish and fully develop individual strengths and interests in service to the organization's mission. We strive to innovate at all levels of the organization and extend the learning to society, clients and customers, partners, employees, and investors.
The mission of The Biomimicry Institute (TBI) is to nurture and grow a global community of people who are learning from, emulating, and conserving life's genius to create a healthier, more sustainable planet.
AskNature, a project of TBI, is the world's first digital library of nature's solutions organized by function. AskNature is where biology and design cross-pollinate, so sustainable bio-inspired breakthroughs can be born. TBI launched the beta version of AskNature in July 2008, and we are now looking for a Digital Design Strategist to help AskNature take its next evolutionary leap-to take it from being a cool invention to an innovation that designers, engineers, architects, business executives, and chemists use every day. It's also an important tool for students in those disciplines, and a place where biologists-with the proper incentives-can contribute biological research and share their knowledge with the people who will design a well adapted world.
