Legrand recognizes the importance of integrating sustainability into all facets of its business operations, product development and market solutions. Legrand North America's Vice President, Energy Efficiency, Sustainability & Public Policy is responsible for informing and driving initiatives that will continuously improve the organization's sustainability performance; expand opportunities to deliver energy efficiency solutions to its customers; and contribute effectively within the energy and environment public policy arena. The Sustainability Intern will provide vital research, writing and administrative support and gain highly relevant experience and understanding of the role and impact of sustainability in the private sector.

Research Support:
Under the direction of the Vice President, the Sustainability Intern's duties may include the following:

1) Monitor and selectively aggregate market, industry and policy news and developments in the energy efficiency, renewable and sustainability arenas;
2) Format and publish relevant news for electronic distribution;
Conduct specific short-term research assignments, including benchmarking;
3) Procure relevant data and develop charts and graphs;
4) Draft and edit research memos;
5) Monitor relevant energy and environment legislation;
6) Conduct other assignments as requested

Administrative Support:
Provide general ongoing support for the Vice President, including but not limited to data base development and maintenance, development of PowerPoint slides, maintaining electronic files, and support as needed on the implementation of internal sustainability initiatives.

Qualifications:
1) Excellent research skills, with an emphasis on effective utilization of the Internet
2) Excellent writing and editing skills
3) Strong administrative and organizational skills and attention to detail
4) Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office
5) Ability to juggle multiple priorities, handle quickly-emerging tasks, and to work under tight deadlines
6) Solid interpersonal skills
7) Genuine interest in sustainability development and/or energy efficiency and the role of business

The successful candidate will be completing or recently completed an undergraduate or graduate degree, preferable in environmental science, economics, public policy or a field related to sustainability, natural resource productivity, or business management or marketing with relevant coursework to sustainability issues. He or she will be a highly motivated self-starter that can work independently, but also be proactive in communicating the status of assigned tasks. Past office experience is preferred, but not required.

The candidate must be prepared to work at times with the Vice President on a "virtual basis".

This is a part-time internship of 15-20 hours per week.
