Basic Qualifications:
Must have experience with quantitative analysis. Must have experience in the Energy or Wholesale Power Market industry.
Core Competencies:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Engineering, Economics, or a related field or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Typically possesses five or more years of experience providing strategic planning, contract management, and/or settlements/accounting with experience directly involved in wholesale electricity markets.
- Typically possesses two or more years of supervisory or program management experience.
- Demonstrated experience providing support to regulatory or legal proceedings (i.e., serving as an expert witness or providing analytical support).
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing metrics and analytics to support strategic initiatives.
- Demonstrated experience interfacing and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders (e.g., attorneys, regulatory agencies, management, officers, clients) to meet business needs.
- Demonstrated experience negotiating business settlements.
- Demonstrated experience performing market analysis, including root cause analysis, trending, and/or developing contingency plans to counter market developments.
- Demonstrated experience utilizing advanced Excel functions (e.g., pivot-tables, v look-ups, macros).
- Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Access, Visio, and Project.
- Demonstrated ability to create and maintain a safety conscious work environment.
- Must demonstrate the ability to integrate work across relevant areas, develop the business and services to enhance customer satisfaction and productivity, manage risks appropriately, develop and execute business plans, manage information, and provide exceptional service to internal and external customers.

Typical Responsibilities:
This position will be in the Market Analysis division within Southern California Edison's (SCE) Market Strategy and Resource Planning Organization. The successful candidate will lead SCE's strategic posture and analysis related to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) refund process steming from the 2000-2001 California Energy Crisis.
Typical responsibilities will include: supporting negotiations of refund settlements with approximately 14 entities for a potential of over $1 billion in refunds to State ratepayers; performing and directing analytics to enhance SCE's strategic position, which may include developing an accounting model or database for more than 60 participants to monitor individual cash balance, negotiated settlement, refund claims, and interest position over a 13 year period; developing strategic settlement positions and analysis; interfacing and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, including SCE officers, management, attorneys, PG&E, SDG&E, CPUC, the State AG, and FERC staff; presenting analysis to SCE leadership and obtaining direction on SCE's strategic response in negotiations; providing analytical and expert witness support for regulatory or legal proceedings on refunds. In addition to refund related activities, the position requires performing and directing market analysis to detect CAISO market issues, identify root causes, and formulate strategic reactions, including changes in SCE market participation, rule change recommendations, and possible engagement from outside entities (e.g., CAISO, FERC); creating and maintaining a safety conscious work environment by leading and influencing others to follow Edison safety protocols and safe work practices; and performing other responsibilities and duties as assigned.
