Reporting directly to the COO, the Sr. Structural Engineer will be responsible for managing the interconnection design and engineering for utility projects in the US. Projects range from approximately 500 kW interconnection at medium voltage to 20+ MW systems interconnected with utility transmission systems up to 33 kV. Project involvement ranges from initial site selection to power generation. The Interconnection Engineer will be responsible for resource planning and overall quality of design. The position will be primarily focused on:
• Executing the design and engineering of utility projects: providing detail electrical construction plans; equipment and installation specifications; obtaining technical approvals for construction, and construction quality inspections.
• Coordinating with all other departments for overall planning and forecasting activities, as well as day to day production management.
• Utilizing computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform assignments.
• Developing electrical blueprints or specifications for use during solar and wind development and construction.
• Ensure delivery of the highest quality designs that are safe, meet code requirements, necessary certification requirements, and maximize efficiency while maintaining safety and reliability over a 30+ year project life.

Qualifications:
We are seeking a proven senior electrical engineer within the renewable energy, utility and or construction industries. The winning candidate will have 8-10+ years of experience in electrical engineering with the Professional Engineer (PE) certification in California, and experience in solar & wind power engineering with AutoCAD and PVSYST is preferred. 5 years experience working in an engineering capacity for a utility or significant project experience as it relates to interconnection of power plants and a strong understanding of utility transmission systems, both as it relates to standard and local codes and regulatory agencies (NEC, NESC, NFPA, UL, etc) and optimizing design for performance and cost is preferable. BS in Electrical Engineering is required; an MS in Electrical Engineering is a plus. Prefer someone who is passionate about renewable energy and/or helping the environment, and whom has a great positive attitude with a high energy level.
