We are currently seeking a Research Associate to join our Environmental Energy Technologies Division. The Energy Analysis Department has an immediate opening for a Research Associate who will play a significant role in the current research and analysis of public interest policy issues associated with electricity markets such as market structure and design, resource planning and assessment, electric system reliability, role of energy efficiency, demand response, renewable energy and distributed generation resources, and retail energy markets.
With guidance and supervision from staff scientists, the Research Associate will:
• Provide assistance to cities and states on energy efficiency programs, including finance and building retrofit programs funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
• Assist in studies that analyze innovative financing and marketing programs targeted at residential and commercial building owners.
• Review and analyze energy efficiency programs that are being administered by state and local governments, as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
• Analyze synergies between programs funded by ARRA and existing ratepayer-funded energy efficiency programs.
• Develop methods to identify and report on "best practices" in innovative energy efficiency program designs.
Qualifications:
• Bachelors degree in engineering, energy & resources, economics, public policy business administration or related field, and up to two years of relevant work experience.
• Familiarity with energy efficiency, demand response, and distributed resource programs, technologies and electric power systems.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to identify and obtain information from diverse sources, conduct interviews, and collaborate with other researchers.
• General familiarity with energy efficiency programs.
• Strong quantitative skills to conduct financial and economic analysis of energy efficiency projects and programs.
• Proficiency with MS Excel and Powerpoint for data analysis and presentation.
• Graduate degree in energy & resources, public policy, economics, business administration, city and regional planning or engineering is preferred.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Two years of professional experience working with state/local government and/or working with energy efficiency programs, preferred.
• Interest in energy and environmental issues is preferred.

This is a full-time, one year Term appointment. Incumbents in this position are represented by a union for collective bargaining purposes.
