PETA/Norfolk, VA (Hampton Roads area)
PETA's undercover investigations division (part of the Cruelty Investigations Department) currently has openings for the following:
Cruelty Investigations Department Coordinator
In just the last few years, PETA investigations have resulted in the following:
· The largest seizure of animals (more than 26,000) by law enforcement in history and the shutting down of a massive animal dealer in Texas that was a huge player in the global pet trade
· The closure of a product-testing laboratory in North Carolina and 14 felony cruelty-to-animals charges for four workers, including a supervisor
· Nineteen indictments, including 11 felony charges, against employees of a West Virginia turkey farm—the first-ever felony indictments for cruelty to farmed birds by factory farm workers in the U.S.
· Twenty-two criminal charges against six workers at a sow farm in Iowa, the top pork-producing state, and the first-ever conviction for abusing or neglecting a factory-farmed pig
· A promise from Israel's chief rabbi to label as non-kosher all meat from suppliers in South America obtained by "shackle and hoist," a cruel and archaic slaughter method
We are looking for people with a passion for animal protection who are hardworking, focused, meticulous, committed to reducing animal suffering, and able to follow our successful and detailed case-management systems.
