Description
This position will be in the Motor Repair shop within Southern California Edison’s (SCE) Transmission & Distribution Business Unit (TDBU).

Typical responsibilities will include:
•Assisting Motor/Generator Specialist or Motor/Generator Foreman by inspecting, disassembling, repairing all components of AC and DC power motors and generators and similar rotating or related equipment.
•Disassembling, repairing, assembling core iron laminations.
•Soldering and sil-fosing connections.
•Inspecting stator coils and analyzing conditions of apparatus.
•Rewinding, insulating, tying down, blocks, connecting all coil systems and replacing leads.
•Overhauling, cleaning, rebuilding, and repairing, applying epoxy insulating materials, operating Vacuum Pressure Impregnation (VPI) equipment.
•Visually inspecting, measuring, and testing equipment,
•Operating specialized repair equipment.
•Measuring housings, seals, and shafts to determine conditions for use.
•Preparing parts for use.
•Following and annotating work plans.
•Instructing or providing direction to Motor/Generator helpers.
•Assisting with the operation of equipment to perform as received tests, core tests, winding tests on AC and DC power motors and generators for diagnostic purposes.
•Operating and performing balancing functions on shop equipment.
•Fitting and adjusting bearing to shaft during assembly.
•Maintaining a safety conscious work environment by following Edison safety protocols and safe work practices.
•Performing other responsibilities and duties as assigned.

Basic Qualification:
•Must have experience in the field of repair and maintenance of motors and generators.
•Must have experience assisting the testing of electrical apparatus.
•Must have experience with tools, testing equipment and standard industry materials for windings, methods and practices used in the operation, overhaul, repair, rewind, and maintenance of AC and DC motors and power generators.

Job Requirements:
•Knowledge of: Fundamentals of electricity and mechanics as related to the inspection, repair, and testing of rotating equipment; tools, testing equipment and standard industry materials for windings, methods and practices used in the operation, overhaul, repair, rewind, and maintenance of AC and DC motors and power generators. Proper use of tools and equipment; safety and accident prevention rules, practices, and regulations.
•Ability to: Use tools and related equipment of the trade. Assists with the diagnostic troubleshooting and making repairs on equipment; read and interpret and lay out electrical connections and plans, detailed electrical blueprints, diagrammatic drawings and specifications. Acquire required security clearances at SONGS, refineries, and other customer location. Follow oral and written instructions; safely perform electrical/mechanical work; operate equipment such as light trucks, cranes, and material handling vehicles; perform heavy physical work and maintain a valid California driver’s license.
•The knowledge, skills and abilities required for this job are at a level comparable with those normally acquired through job related courses taken in obtaining a high school education and considerable training and experience with motors and generators.
•Demonstrated ability to follow Edison safety protocols and safe work practices.
