Basic Qualifications
Must have experience in procurement engineering or maintenance, performing duties such as ordering parts, and planning and making recommendations to supply chain management for the purchase or evaluation of parts and components. Must possess a Bachelor's Degree in mechanical, marine, or civil engineering, or a related scientific/ technical field.

Core Competencies
- Typically possesses five or more years of engineering experience.
- Demonstrated experience evaluating alternatives and providing recommendations on the correct substitution of equivalent replacement parts.
- Demonstrated experience preparing quality inspection plans to dedicate commercial grade items for safety related applications.
- Demonstrated experience resolving equipment obsolescence issues.
- Demonstrated experience specifying technical requirements, resolving safety related issues, and preparing procurement documentation for the purchase of mechanical equipment.
- Demonstrated experience providing technical support to vendors and procurement agents for the purchase of specialized parts and materials.
- Demonstrated ability to interface with personnel across all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and/or participate effectively on cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated knowledge of applicable mechanical equipment procurement regulations, guidelines, standards, codes, methods, and practices.
- Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and/or PowerPoint.
- Must create a safety conscious work environment.
- Must demonstrate the ability to integrate work across relevant areas, develop the business and services to enhance customer satisfaction and productivity, manage risks and safety appropriately, develop and execute business plans, manage information, and provide exceptional service to internal and external customers.

- Must demonstrate strong ethics, influence and negotiation, leadership, interpersonal skills, communication, and the ability to effectively manage stress and engage in continuous learning.
- ANSI Requirements: Shall be competent in technical matters related to plant safety and other engineering and scientific support aspects.

COMMENTS: Additional testing may be required as part of the selection process for this position. Candidates for this position must be legally authorized to work directly as employees for any employer in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Typical Responsibilities
This position will be in the Procurement Engineering Group within Southern California Edison's (SCE) San Onofre Nuclear Generation Station (SONGS). The successful candidate will perform engineering tasks associated with the development of plans, specifications, evaluations, design documents, and performance and safety assessments required for the procurement of mechanical equipment and the dedication of parts and materials to be installed at SONGS. This position is represented by the IBEW.

Typical responsibilities will include: specifying technical requirements, resolving safety related issues, and preparing procurement documentation for the purchase of mechanical equipment; preparing quality inspection plans to dedicate commercial grade items for safety related applications; evaluating alternatives and providing recommendations on the correct substitution of equivalent replacement parts; leading and/or participating on teams involved in resolving equipment obsolescence issues; providing technical support to vendors and procurement agents for the purchase of specialized parts and materials; consulting with staff from Operations, Maintenance, and other departments to ensure necessary work gets performed in a timely manner; and performing other responsibilities and duties as assigned.
