Busted Halo®/New York, NY (Manhattan)
Oversees the direction, tone, content, technical presentation and day-to-day operations of Busted Halo, a media ministry of the Paulist fathers targeted to spiritual seekers in their 20s & 30s, which currently includes a daily web magazine, ministry programs distributed electronically, frequent podcasts, online videos and a satellite radio show.
The job requires: an understanding of the Catholic faith and a desire to deepen young adults’ connection to faith and spirituality; an active engagement in pop culture and knowledge of the younger demographic in the U.S. and their use of media; the ability to steer a conversation about religion, faith and spirituality that builds bridges and avoids polemics; an openness to dialogue with people from various cultural and faith backgrounds; strong management and organizational skills, creative vision, and the ability to inspire and work with a team in a collaborative, non-corporate environment; a willingness to be actively involved in fundraising and marketing efforts.
Experience should include: excellent communication skills in writing, oral presentation, and multimedia; story editing and working with writers; advanced knowledge of web product development, user experience, design and production for the web (e.g., video), marketing and social media; previous management, supervisory, or small business start-up experience; proven ability to creatively work within budgetary constraints.
The Director of Media Content / Editor-in-Chief will supervise an on-site staff in New York City as well as free-lancers and interns. Reports to the Paulist Director of Busted Halo. Full-time position with health benefits; salary commensurate with experience.
