Willdan Energy Solutions (WES) is seeking talented individuals to fill the role of Data Center Energy Efficiency Program – Sales and Marketing Engineer. WES is a growing and exciting company with projects concentrating on data center energy efficiency, mechanical, electrical and IT infrastructure, sustainability and utility partnerships. The selected candidate will be a key member of the WES national data center team and will manage all aspects of data center energy efficiency programs. The position is based in Willdan’s Monrovia, California office but could also be supported out of our Dublin, California office.
Any candidates considered for this job will have a deep knowledge of data centers and their mechanical, electrical and IT infrastructure systems. You must have direct experience with the physical equipment within a data center. Candidates will have a combination of technical expertise along with the ability to communicate and sell ideas effectively. The candidate will be required to coordinate effectively with other team members, staff members, third party team members and customers to meet the deliverables of our projects. Communication and persuasive skills in working with customers is essential.
This is not a system administrator or system integration role. The day to day responsibilities include working with our many data center customers to better understand their facilities and infrastructure followed by creating and enabling the implementation of energy efficient strategies as well as working with the Willdan Team to develop new services to offer to our customers.
Requirements include:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or Computer)
• Minimum of 5 years experience in one of the following:
o Data center design (mechanical, electrical or IT infrastructure)
o Sales Engineering for data center systems (either mechanical, electrical or IT infrastructure)
o IT Consulting for server and storage systems deployment
The ideal candidate will meet all of the following criteria:
• A thorough understanding of data center mechanical and electrical systems
• A general understanding of IT and Data Center infrastructure
• Experience with design, commissioning, retro-commissioning or similar analysis of data centers
• Ability to manage projects from conception to implementation to verification, including sales support.
• Ability to estimate savings and costs to calculate ROI for customers
• Ability to perform detailed energy savings calculations and spreadsheet analysis
• Familiarity with HVAC equipment such as servers, storage, UPS, CRAC and CRAH
• Familiarity with data center mechanical systems such as airflow management, set point optimization hot/cold aisle containment solutions and advanced cooling technologies
• Familiarity with advanced data center controls and data center monitoring systems such as data center infrastructure management
• A high level of interest in improving energy efficiency in buildings
• Ability to create spreadsheet tools to estimate project costs and savings
• Well developed presentation skills
• Must be a self starter and able to see tasks through from start to finish
• Strong organizational skills, verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment
• Creativity and marketing skills
